Duke University’s prestigious Artificial Intelligence for Materials (aiM-NRT) Fellowship program is excited to announce that applications for the Fall 2025 cohort are now open! This is a unique opportunity for talented doctoral students to advance interdisciplinary research at the cutting edge of artificial intelligence and materials science.

About the Fellowship

The aiM-NRT Fellowship offers 10 supported PhD traineeships for the 2025–2026 academic year. Each fellowship includes:

  • 1-Year Funding: Coverage of tuition and a competitive stipend.
  • Travel Support: Funding to attend conferences or conduct research-related travel.
  • Global Eligibility: Open to both U.S. and international students.

The program fosters collaboration across disciplines such as physical sciences, mathematics, computer science, materials science, and engineering. Fellows will have access to exceptional resources and mentorship to tackle interdisciplinary challenges.

Eligibility Criteria

This program is designed for:

  • Current or admitted PhD students at Duke University.
  • Individuals with a strong interest and aptitude for research that integrates artificial intelligence and materials science.
