WHO CAN APPLY
The aiM-NRT training program is open to two categories of students:
- Current and Admitted Duke PhD Students
- Prospective Duke students who have applied to a PhD program
Interested in applying to a future cohort and want to learn more? Fill out the interest form!
If you are a current Duke PhD student, apply by June 15th, 2024. Applications submitted by February 28th, 2024 will be considered for early admittance.
For CURRENT AND ADMITTED DUKE PHD STUDENTS take the following steps to apply:
- Complete the aiM online application form. Get the link here.
- Within the application, upload your current CV (2-page max)
- Upload a short essay (1-page max) on why you are interested, your experience, and skills relevant to aiM core areas
- Upload your unofficial Duke Transcript
- Ask your Duke advisor to email a letter of recommendation to shana.mcalexander@duke.edu
If you are a prospective Duke PhD student, applications are due February 28th 2024.
For PROSPECTIVE DUKE STUDENTS WHO HAVE APPLIED TO A PHD PROGRAM take the following steps to apply:
- Apply to the Duke graduate school through one of the participating departments (see list below)
- Complete the aiM online application form. Get the link here.
- Within the application, upload your current CV (2-page max)
- Upload a short essay (1-page max) on why you are interested, your experience, and skills relevant to aiM core areas
- Upload your Undergraduate/Masters Transcripts
- Ask one of your references to email a letter of recommendation to shana.mcalexander@duke.edu.
Admission into aiM-NRT will be contingent upon student entrance into their respective graduate department at Duke.

Graduate students from any relevant program are eligible to apply. Departments include but are not limited to the following:
