Six from Duke Named Fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS)
aiM PI-L. Catherine Brinson and co-PI- David L. Banks, were named, along with four other Duke faculty, as Fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Dr. Brinson was selected for her distinguished contributions to the field of mechanics of materials, particularly for hierarchical characterization and modeling of nanostructured polymers and shape memory alloys. Dr. Banks was cited for his leadership at the Statistical and Applied Mathematical Sciences Institute, research on risk analysis, and editorial service. Election as an AAAS Fellow is an honor bestowed upon AAAS members by their peers. They are among 489 new fellows elected this year.
